They do not care about making sure the milk they sell is fresh - for their own house brand. That brand really does expire on the expiration date, yet they continue to sell it on the expiration date or close to it. I've complained about it 4 times now (and had a reason to). Why don't they care about it? Also, the checkers do not care if you don't get all your purchased items, and won't try to help you in the slightest. It's always" On to the next person!" Never mind if you walked out the door and forgot something. Technically it's no skin off their noses, but they'd be better if they at least tried to be aware if somebody leaves an item behind. Update: On December 8 2017, I found that for the 10th time, the First Street brand 1% milk in the half gallon size, had an expiration date on the next day. I’ve brought it to their attention many times by now. I know from experience that their milk really does expire on the expiration date. I brought it up to the “manager” who turned out to be the assistant manager. He said that he’s not in charge of “the deli” section.” So I asked: “So you’re the manager, but not the manager of the deli section”? He said that he’s just the assistant manager. Turns out he never informed the real manager about the problem. He said he would do it this time. He also insisted that he’s gone to find me that particular item with a better expiration date many times. No, it was only once. He got his knickers in a twist about that. So I go to the girls’ room, and when I came out I found that he had sent an employee to put a half gallon of that milk in my cart, with a better expiration date. She was waiting to talk to me about it. So she tells me that the problem is “corporate headquarters” - that it was their decision to try to get every last penny they could, even to the point of selling milk that will go bad the day after people buy it. She told me that she did not even have permission to remove the milk with the date of December 9, from the shelf. Really? So either they never told the manager, or they did, and the manager followed the instructions from “corporate headquarters” to leave the milk on the shelf. Which time did they lie? The woman who waited by my cart then told me that if I buy it, and it turns bad, I can just bring it back and get a refund. No, already been there, and I should not have to make up for their greed by using more of my time and gas. Neither should anyone else. They do the same thing with their expensive $5 bag of chopped onions. They keep that product on the shelf even if it’s not terribly fresh. More than once I’ve had the onions go rotten very soon after buying it. Yes, I have a working refrigerator. That “assistant manager” also had a problem with my tone. Oh yeah? I did not yell or curse at him. What does he expect after telling them the problem 10 times? Periwinkle cucumber sandwiches with fairy sprinkles? Get a clue: your job is to sell fresh food to the public. Not rotten food delivered with a bad attitude. Update on December 22, 2017: Today I heard a cashier discussing the IQ of a customer with another cashier. At checkout, after the person had left. Save it for the breakroom, guys! I mean, how smart can a grocery store cashier be? Unprofessional! Update on January 5, 2018: They are still putting the First Street Brand 1% milk, 1/2 gallon, that is set to expire the next day, out on the shelf. They just don't give a futtoking futtock! To everyone else: please avoid this store like the plague.
